Amy Katherine Proper of Athens and Jonathan Keith Miller of Mabank were married at 6 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 1 at Castle on the Lake in Jacksonville. The bride’s uncle, the Rev. Paul Berry, officiated the ceremony, after her brother, Jeffrey Berry, escorted her down the aisle.

Peeping through my Venetian blind, I saw the Covington sisters, Miss Cora, Miss Dora, and Miss Flora, baskets in hand, heading out to the woods on their estate to gather holly, pine boughs, pine cones, mistletoe, cedar, ‘possum haw, yaupon, magnolia leaves, and other greenery and berries to decorate Covington Hall. Clydie Clump was ambling along with them as chief helper.
